Year’s first baby delivers Year’s first baby

Meet the first baby born in Iceland in 2017. And his mom was the first baby of 1980. What are the odds of that?

The first child born in Iceland in 2017 arrived yesterday at just three minutes into New Year’s Day at the South Iceland health clinic in Selfoss.

Mother and baby have the same birthday
Mother and baby were born at the same hospital.

The hattrick? The mother, Katrín Guðjónsdóttir, was the First Child of 1980, meaning that the first baby of 1980 gave birth to the first baby of 1980.

We joked about it yesterday that he may be the first baby of the year but never thought this could happen. It would be too surreal.- Katrin Guojonsdottir, Mother
